1. What we collect
- Rent submissions — your address, monthly rent, bedroom count, property type, tenancy start date, and whether bills are included.
- Your email — used once to verify you're a real person. We then store it in a scrambled form so we can tell if someone submits twice, without keeping your actual address.
- Cookies and similar — see section 3.
- Standard technical logs — your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visit. Kept briefly for security and debugging.
2. What we never publish
We store your address privately so we can group submissions at the same building, but it never leaves the server. Public pages only ever show aggregates.
- Your email address.
- Your full street address or any specific building you're in.
- Any individual rent. Public district-level figures are drawn from 12+ submissions; public building-level figures require 3+ verified submissions at that building.
3. Cookies & similar
Always on — needed for the site to work:
- Whether you've submitted a rent, so we don't ask you to unlock data you've already unlocked.
- Your cookie choice, so we don't ask again on every page.
- Basic technical cookies that keep sessions and page loads working.
Optional — only if you click Accept on the cookie banner:
- Anonymous usage stats — which features people use, where they get stuck. Nothing that identifies you.
You can change your choice any time via the Cookies link in the footer.
4. Who we share with
We don't sell your data, rent it out, or hand it to marketing networks. The only third parties that see any of your data are the service providers we need to run NinjaRent:
- A cloud database provider — stores your submissions so the site can show aggregate results.
- An address-autocomplete provider — only sees the text you type into the search box; nothing about your submission.
- Standard hosting and email-delivery providers — process basic technical requests and send the one-time verification email.
If we ever add an analytics or advertising partner, we'll name them here specifically — since those are the kinds of third parties users reasonably want to know about — and we'll ask for your consent before loading them.
5. Your rights
If you're in the UK or EU, under UK-GDPR and GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

6. Retention
- Rent submissions — kept while NinjaRent is running. Contributing to the shared aggregate is the whole point of the site.
- Technical logs — our hosting and database providers rotate these on their own short schedules. We don't keep long-term copies.
- Deletion — when you ask us to remove your submission, we do so within 30 days, as required by law.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes — for example, adding a new analytics or advertising partner — we'll update this page and, where the change affects cookies, resurface the consent banner so you can review your choice.
